New World Record in the “Spider Bull”

Posted by admin On December - 14 - 2008

Denny Austad had the good fortune to be able to take an animal that looks like will overtake the #1 spot in the non-typical elk category. The 60 day mandatory waiting period has passed and the bull has been officially scored by Rusty Hall of Trophy Hunter Magazine.

“Spider came in at 501 Gross with a net score of 480 1/8 inches. Looks like his score is going to push to the #1 spot in the world!”

If the score stands, the Spider Bull will surpass the current record holder by 14 7/8 inches! The current non-typical world’s record is from Upper Arrow Lake, B.C. and is a “picked up” trophy.

Denny Austad is no stranger to big elk. In 2006, he harvested another bull that scored 411 3/8 inches and would have been a new Utah State record if another hunter with the same guide hadn’t harvested a bull that scored 428 6/8 inches. Both of Denny’s bulls were the reward for hunting with Doyle Moss and Mossback Guides & Outfitters from Spanish Fork, Utah.
